"Dear Father" By J. Ivy Def Poetry

Man...and people wonder why I'm so passionate about families. So many generational curses need to be broken. So many of our young black men and women..so many are the results of an absent parent, love, affection, or time spent. You really never know why a person acts the way that they do--there is a lack of something..somewhere. Is that an excuse to freestyle your way through life because "no one was there to teach you" though--NO, it isn't. Me personally, I feel that whatever you didn't have, that you'd want to pass that on to your offspring. Or whatever you DID have, you'd want to keep that up in letting the fruits of your labor trickle down to your child(ren). This poem really touched me because in the end, even though the Father left him, treated his Mother wrong, etc. etc...he still forgave him..still loved him. Some things are harder to forgive, let alone forget.. But never ever allow history to continue to repeat itself. The buck has to stop somewhere.. It seems as though being a Father isn't cool anymore, being a family--isn't cool anymore. Like, seriously, can someone tell me where the morals & values are hidden?? Things aren't the same anymore. We're seriously drifting into an era where hit & runs, multiple sex partners, cashing & flashing off things are trendy. I need a guy , or a group of 'em to step it up and change the game--make it cool to prioritize. (No shade to the Fathers who clock in for their children & are proactive within their lives) Family is all that we have. God never intended no Woman and or no Man to raise a child alone. Clearly, there was some teamwork from the jump of things..so when, where and why does it diminish? Stop sexing without protecting.. Stop linking without thinking..That's how we keep the cycle rolling or get stuck with dealing with the wrong person, for life. A child deserves to live as much of a fairytale life as the Parents can provide--they didn't ask to come here. We need more Love out here, more respect & trust amongst one another and less lust. "We're in a generation of..not being in love...but I need something different" -Drake

Teamwork is Dream work..
Anything less is double the work, and or possibly a living nightmare. These children deserve more than a paycheck. More. Quality time spent and respect amongst one another is priceless. Respect costs you nothing. zip zero, nada. Invest now, so that you won't regret the ending results of a damaged adult on down the road. They may still love you, but ultimately as a Parent, you'll regret it on down the road. And its something that you'll have to answer to God about in the end......
